Joyce Francis is a Manhattan based artist who hand carves Lucite using twenty five different sized dentist drills in a medium referred to as "cold carving". She is self-taught. Each box or bag is a one of a kind piece of art and they are all exclusive works for the store Blue Tree. There are no embedded objects in any of her work. Joyce's purses are in the permanent collection of costume exhibits at both the Victoria Albert Museum of London and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Joyce is also the winner of the prestigious Gladys Blum Award from The National Academy of Fine Arts.
