This extraordinary green fern box is ultra deluxe. It is similar in shape to Joyce's classic desk boxes but please note that all sides of this box are jewel cut (sometimes we refer to this style as an"all lids" box). The lid on this piece is also 1/2" thicker than the lids of your usual desk box, so the carvings are that much deeper. This allows for the lid and the sides to have more 3-D effect.

Joyce Francis is a Manhattan based artist who hand carves Lucite using twenty five different sized dentist drills in a medium referred to as "cold carving". She is self-taught. Each box or lamp is a one of a kind piece of art and they are all exclusive works for the store Blue Tree. There are no embedded objects in any of her work. Joyce's purses are in the permanent collection of costume exhibits at both the Victoria Albert Museum of London and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Both exhibits feature her carved purses. Joyce is also the winner of the prestigious Gladys Blum Award from The National Academy of Fine Arts.
