The Classic- Lucite Box

The Classic. Hand carved and hand dyed, this jewel cut Petite Box was the first shape commissioned for Blue Tree. Lush carvings of tree and leaves, flowers and birds in a true Aqua.

Shape and size is called The Petite, but make no mistake, this is a substantial sized piece of work. There are three sizes that are smaller than The Petite. Joyce is now calling this box "The Classic".

Joyce Francis is a Manhattan based artist who hand carves Lucite using twenty five different sized dentist drills in a medium referred to as "cold carving". She is self-taught. Each box or bag is a one of a kind piece of art and they are all exclusive works for the store Blue Tree. There are no embedded objects in any of her work. Joyce's purses are in the permanent collection of costume exhibits at both the Victoria Albert Museum of London and The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Joyce is also the winner of the prestigious Gladys Blum Award from The National Academy of Fine Arts.
